Fun at Van Nuys Airport

20130618_184120

Totally cool life experience today, one for the record books. Flight simulation at Encore Flight school, then a tour outside where they showed us some of their flight school planes. After our amazing time at flight school, we went over to a very unique, aviation themed restaurant, right next to Van Nuys Airport. As I was outside on the balcony enjoying dinner, little planes were either taking off, or landing. I’ll never forget this evening.

My head is still spinning with all the I did today. I’m so tired, but there is still so much work I need to get done. I’m being distracted by this blog instead of my actual work blog. If I ever catch up on work, sleep, and everything else happening in my life right now I might be back here to blog, well, eventually. At least I hope!

Also, I got a really cute color update here at Cleverness! I just love the pink and orange together. Yay!

3 Weeks Later

Nearly 3 weeks later and I’m still here in Virginia. The kids and I are heading home on Tuesday. Although I’m sad to leave my mom, brother, friends, and Virginia, I have to. I’ve decided against moving with the kids to Virginia to start school. Instead, I’ll start school in Louisiana. After being here for nearly 3 weeks without any help from Sean and doing everything on my own I’m worn out. I don’t think I can manage both the children, full-time school for me and Jasmine. I barley even have time to shower while here.

If I had to I would, but I don’t. I have a very understanding, amazing, helpful, loving and adoring husband in Louisiana. I had planned to move with the kids to VA so I could start school. Sean would have had to stay behind to work in Louisiana for at least 6 months before moving to join us in VA. Sean and I decided to just stick it out in Louisiana and make the best of it. I have a good network in Louisiana of people who want to help with the kids.

Don’t get me wrong, my mom has been awesome while we’ve been here but with her working full-time there is only so much she can do for me and the kids. Plus, if I had decided to move the kids would be in one room and I would have the couch, not the ideal situation. Also, I wouldn’t have a dedicated place to study and help Jasmine with her homework.

I guess you can say this trip was more of a trial run. And did I mention, both kids got sick with a nasty stomach bug while here. I’m so sick of poop diapers and throw up.

I also miss my brother, a lot! Here are the kids and I face timing with my brother. See you soon, Ben.

Living in Louisiana isn’t so bad. I just have to see the good and not focus so much on what I don’t like about Louisiana. I’m in love with Virginia, always will be, but it’s not where I need to be right now. I need to be in Louisiana with my husband and the kids need to be with their father.

I’m looking forward to settling into my new life once I get home. But first, I have a fun press trip to Hollywood!!

My 2nd Happiest Place on Earth: Busch Gardens VA

photo 1

My family and I went to Busch Gardens yesterday. If you didn’t know, my 2nd happiest place on earth to be is without a doubt, Busch Gardens. I absolutely love spending time there, it’s a beautiful park and I find comfort in knowing my parents went there in the late 70′s before they got married. Thursday was my first time bringing a baby. Sean II and his sister had a great time. It was also the first time I went to Busch Gardens knowing I wasn’t going to ride any of the major roller coasters or rides that I love. Our visit was mostly for the kids, plain and simply. Although, I did manage to coax Jasmine to ride the swings with me and that I loved.

There is a Sesame Place inside Busch Gardens and Jasmine loves the rides there. It’s such a cute little section of the park that wasn’t there when I was growing up. Jasmine calls this ride her “work out ride”. Jasmine says she calls it that because it goes up and down, like when her daddy works out at the gym. I love how little minds think.

Took a break at the end of the day before we started our long walk back to the car. I think Busch Gardens was even prettier than I had remembered it being. Plus, the park was almost vacant, hardly anyone there, made putting the kids on all the rides so easy.

My favorite ride at the park, The Griffon, and I couldn’t ride it. Next time though!

I seriously have the coolest brother ever. I’m so happy I got to spend a lot of precious time with him on this trip to VA.

MacBook Air + Photo + Childhood Friend

Yesterday I got a MacBook Air. I’ve been drooling over it for a year now. My mom, brother, the kids and I had a lovely Sunday funday. I’m only here in Virginia for about another week or so. I fly out on the 11th. We spent the morning running around and taking care of some errands my mom had to run. Then we stopped by my childhood friend’s house for a couple of hours. Then we went to my favorite mall and that’s where I purchased my new computer.

Gretchen and I met during the spring of 1992. I moved to a tiny town from San Diego and she was asked my the school principal to go to my house and introduce herself. I’ll never forget my dad letting me know that someone had stopped by to meet me. Gretchen and I played Guess Who up in my room and from that day on we were friends. We’ve had our ups and downs, what friendship hasn’t? Gretchen is my oldest, dearest friend.

I’m so happy that our children have hit it off and know each other. They will be excited to play together the next time I visit VA with them. Here are our kids, together at the mall.

While here at my mom’s the kids and I can walk right to the grocery store, Jas loves it. I enjoy walking to the store, too. I’ll miss it when we go back to Louisiana. On our walk to the grocery store this afternoon we came across this turtle. I think she was laying eggs because she didn’t move and it looked as if she had kind of dug herself a little hole. The turtle was in the exact same spot on our return walk.
